Garic Adds Ocean Welfare To Employee Welfare

As part of its drive to promote eco and environmentally friendly practices, Garic has just become a business member of the Big Blue Ocean Clean Up.

Its Ocean Protection Project is an initiative aimed at businesses which want to make a positive contribution to their local communities whilst helping support healthy oceans and Garic was one of the first in the queue to sign up.

The leading site welfare provider’s membership and support will help the project to keep the oceans clean, protect marine wildlife and support the development of innovative technologies. It will also allow Big Blue Ocean Clean Up to run free educational workshops and provide resources for schools around the world, inspiring all generations to take action and protect the blue planet.

The organisation is one of the world’s leading independent ocean clean-up foundations and is based at the University of Plymouth’s Tremough Innovation Centre in Cornwall. To date it has removed over 500,000kg of rubbish from the oceans and Garic will join these efforts by organising its own beach clean-up on the North West coast during the coming summer.

Frankie Turner, marketing manager at Garic said: “We are super excited to be a part of this very important project. Protecting the environment is something at the forefront of everything we do; whether it’s innovating to make more of our products solar or renewing our transport fleet to use less fuel, it’s vital that we do as much as we can to mitigate the impact of our business on the planet.

“Of course, we also want to help in other ways too so that’s why we’ve signed up to help Big Blue Ocean Clean Up. I think we’ve all been shocked by images of the amount of plastic and rubbish in the oceans across the world so at Garic we’re determined to do our bit. We’re in the process of organising a coastal clean-up away day for our employees and their families. It’ll be held this summer so watch this space for further information!”

Big Blue Ocean Clean Up offers help to any of its business members in organising beach clean-ups, often as corporate team building days. If you’re interested in becoming a member go to www.bigblueoceancleanup.org
