M60 contract tops record quarter for Garic

Garic celebrates an outstanding quarter as its hire and sales divisions achieve record results with a combined turnover of £4.5 million and it wins a raft of new contracts including a prestigious £2.5m contract from Manchester Smart Motorways .

The hire and sales divisions of nationwide plant and equipment supplier Garic have achieved a record quarter with a combined turnover of £4.5 million.

The Lancashire-based company has been performing well winning a number of large projects including a £2.5m contract from Manchester Smart Motorways, a joint venture collaboration improving 15 miles of the M60 and a further 5 miles of the M62 to the north and west of Manchester. This is the largest infrastructure project the company has been awarded since it was founded in 1983.

Over the next 20 months Garic will supply a broad range of site equipment including modular buildings, welfare units, fuel and water tanks for use at strategic locations between junction 8 of the M60 and junction 20 of the M62. Manufactured at the company’s head office just a few miles away, the equipment will be used by the construction teams and members of the public who need recovery facilities.

Commenting on the contract win Garic sales director Neil Richardson said: “It’s great to be working with Manchester Smart Motorways on this major road improvement project and so close to our HQ!

“With over 180,000 vehicles a day using this route we fully appreciate how important it is for the scheme to be completed quickly but also as cost effectively and eco-efficiently as possible. Our mobile welfare units are solar powered and our modular buildings are designed for roadside assembly, both of which will significantly reduce the cost and carbon footprint of the scheme.”

The £200m motorway upgrade is being completed by a joint venture company formed by Balfour Beatty, Carillion, Costain, Bam Nuttall and Morgan Sindall and is due for completion in Autumn 2017

Traditionally associated with the construction sector, Garic recently announced major investment plans outlining its intentions to expand into new markets. It has also been awarded a number of contracts to supply equipment to companies in the renewable energy, industrial and aviation sectors.

Neil Richardson concluded: “As Garic’s reputation for manufacturing top quality environmentally friendly, cost effective products has grown, so too has the number of clients wanting to buy them. Now we are adding new divisions and services to ensure we keep up with our customers’ needs.”
