Garic opens new Reading depot to serve Thames Valley construction

The new depot at Pips Way, Beenham (RG7 5FS) brings the full Garic hire range to construction sites across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Buckinghamshire.

A new depot for the Garic network

Reading joins Bury, Dudley, Sandy and Falkirk in Garic’s UK depot network. The new site at Pips Way, Beenham serves the Thames Valley and surrounding counties, carrying the full Garic hire range from mobile welfare units to wheel wash and site power.

The opening responds to a sustained rise in demand from main contractors, civils specialists and housebuilders working across the Thames Valley. Three forces are driving that demand. The Lower Thames Crossing programme is mobilising civils contractors and supply chains across the South East. The water sector’s AMP8 investment cycle is delivering reservoir, treatment and network upgrades across the corridor. And housing delivery in the Thames Valley continues at pace, with multiple strategic sites in motion.

Opening in Reading puts Garic’s welfare, eco cabin and site service teams within a short drive of those projects. Shorter delivery windows. Fewer empty miles. A regional crew that knows the corridor.

Welfare and eco welfare from day one

The Reading depot will hire the full Garic welfare range, including the Armadillo 18 and Armadillo 18 Eco+ towable welfare units, and the Welfare Van, Welfare Van Eco and Welfare Van Eco+ for shorter-duration projects and mobile crews.

The solar-hybrid Eco mobile and static units are powered by Garic’s Microgrid technology and are engineered to cut fuel burn and carbon output against standard diesel units. They prioritise solar energy to the the unit with an automatic backup battery charger that’s HVO-ready, the usual choice for contractors working to PAS 2080, internal net-zero targets or tendered low-carbon requirements. Garic also supplies fuel and energy-use data via telematics for ESG, BREEAM and CEEQUAL evidence.

A full-service depot, not welfare only

Reading carries Garic’s full hire range alongside welfare: wheel wash units, hybrid and low-emission site power generation, self-contained toilets and showers, self-contained drying rooms, water bowsers and the wider environmental solutions line-up.

A new standard for site welfare

The opening lands at a defining moment for site welfare. The Construction for Women National Site Standard, launched in January 2026, has set a new benchmark for inclusive, hygienic and safe welfare provision on UK construction sites. Garic’s welfare range is built around CDM 2015 Schedule 2: sanitary conveniences, washing facilities with hot and cold running water, drinking water, somewhere to change and store clothing, and a rest area. The Reading account team can scope a CDM-compliant welfare setup against site numbers and phasing.

Reach across the Thames Valley

The Reading depot serves construction sites across the Thames Valley and the wider South East, including Reading, Newbury, Slough, Maidenhead, Bracknell, Wokingham, Oxford, Didcot, Basingstoke, Winchester, Guildford, Woking, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Camberley, Farnborough, Andover, Swindon and Marlborough. The Reading team is the best first point of contact to scope a project against site location, access and timings.
