Here at Garic, we work hard to maintain our reputation as a specialised and trusted plant and welfare facility provider here in the UK. Not only are we passionate about what we do, but we are also passionate about you. Garic products offer you the best solutions possible, allowing your projects to perform at peak efficiency. We have your welfare in mind and it really matters to us, and to show this we support you however we can, and aim to increase productivity through our eco-friendly solutions.

What matters to you matters to us.

A History of Innovation

Originally we were known as Shuttleworth Plant Hire Limited, formed as a business on the 12th February 1988, and from then until now we have always been at the forefront of both our industry and of innovation.

In 1995, before we became the Garic you know today, we patented an interceptor drip tray, which negated the need for chemicals and filters, a simple and yet highly effective design that was ahead of its time, providing environmental protection and effectively capturing costly fuel and oil leaks.

We became Garic Limited in July 2001 and we have built our reputation as industry leaders providing innovative solutions and developing our ranges, including welfare units and mobile unit vans, from there. Our broad product range boasts everything you could need on-site, for decades we’ve been supplying the products to all building and maintenance markets around the UK.

We have always focused on providing the best products and services, and in 2002 we were awarded the Green Apple Award for our innovative Solar Loo. This international campaign is used to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practices around the globe.

From there we never looked back. 2011 saw our Armadillo Eco launch, these units operated predominantly on solar power backed up by a super silent, 12v generator which stops and starts as required.

As we expanded our business we also expanded our product range, and in 2015 our next eco-innovation was launched. The Combi Cabi Eco Series+ was the industry’s most environmentally friendly welfare unit. These cabins are the first completely solar-powered and generator-free welfare cabins. Trials conducted on live construction sites showed that contractors could save 88% in fuel costs, while also reducing CO2 emissions by 88%.

With sustainability at the heart of our company since the beginning, even before the global rush to reduce carbon emissions we’ve been producing and providing carbon zero solutions for our customers. Our all-encompassing product range is here to provide you with everything you need, from tower lights to welfare solutions, available on-demand, 24/7.

Our Eco Range Today

Fast forward to today and we have a whole range of environmentally friendly products that keep you safe on-site, ensure you are CDM compliant and don’t cost the environment.

With our range of eco products, we not only take care of you and your team but also look after the environment too. In an industry that is rapidly expanding, we believe that it is of paramount importance to meet this demand in a way that does not negatively impact our planet.

Today we offer the largest, most comprehensive and most trusted range of eco-friendly products available on the market. From patented and award-winning solar technology to self-contained solar-powered showers, toilets, to mobile welfare vans and welfare units, our range has everything you could need on-site.

Our welfare vans, not only reduce your running costs but also minimise servicing, vibration and noise. But most importantly, we tackle the issue of CO2 and carbon emissions, drastically decreasing the output.

Real-World Numbers

Now this all sounds amazing, right? But if we put these savings into action in real-world scenarios it makes for even more outstanding results.

  • Between our 1500 strong fleet of eco or hybrid welfare units,  2500Kw of solar energy is delivered every day! That’s enough to power the average UK home for 8 months!
  • Our welfare van hire option boasts 30 Hybrid Vans that save approximately 30 tonnes of CO2 each year. Which is the same amount produced by 300 passengers on two full Boeing 737’s on return flights from Paris and New York, or the equivalent of planting 1800 trees.
  • Fancy a brew? Our Hybrid generator reduces fuel consumption by 43 litres per week, cutting 115kg of CO2 emissions, which is enough to boil water for 15583 cups of tea.
  • Hiring our Armadillo XL Eco for a single week can save you up to £100 on fuel bills, which would buy you around 25 pints. Cheers!
  • While hiring our Hybrid van for a week saves you 70L of diesel a week, a saving that means you can buy 170 pints of milk!
  • Our Combi Cabin Eco Series Plus is capable of saving you £150 on fuel bills in a single week, or enough to buy 142 loaves of bread!

So, if you want to reduce your carbon footprint, and keep everyone on site happy with bread and brews, take advantage of our welfare van hire service..

So what’s next?

As innovators, we are always looking for the next big thing. Always search for a way to push the boundaries and develop products that not only meet demand but exceed expectations.

Over the years we have been at the forefront of eco-innovations within our industry, constantly developing products and offering services such as welfare van hire which are designed to reduce CO2 emissions and cut costs.

One of our core values here at Garic is to be better. And developing our eco-range further is one way we can do this. Who knows what the future holds, could we see a range of welfare van that produce zero emissions?
