Introduce yourself – Tell us what you do, how long have you worked at Garic etc
I’m Stephen Ogden, a Production Manager at Garic and I will have been with Garic for 8 years as of Monday 22/2/21.
What is a typical day at Garic like for you?
Is there such a thing?
That’s one of the things I love about my job, no two days are alike. That said, we always start the day with a team briefing to discuss our workload and objectives, priorities and potential issues. This would include safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people. Actions from this meeting usually keep me quiet for an hour or so.
If all goes to plan, then my day would involve a walk around the workshop to observe operations and techniques with a view to improving safety and efficiencies whilst giving me the opportunity to speak to the guys at the “coalface”.
Usually there will be a couple more meetings within my diary at various points too, these could be with sales, R&D, finance, hire or operations management. Again, actions from these meetings can keep me busy for a while.
Before I know it, it’s time to go home.
What is great about working for Garic?
The team, as we have a great team throughout the business. Obviously, I have closer contact with the production team than other departments and we have a fantastic, diverse group of colleagues with a massive breadth of skill sets. Above all is the sense of pride I feel when I see what the team have manufactured from concept to completion for our customers, whether they be for fleet or customer sales.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to socialise, play snooker, listen to 80’S music and do D.I.Y projects.
Options 1 and 2 have been off-limits for far too long now thanks to lockdown, but I still manage to do my D.I.Y whilst listening to Wham!
