Since Garic opened its depot in the Midlands just over a year ago, the leading welfare and site set up equipment supplier has been highly delighted at the response it has received. The depot is now so busy that it needs more room for its staff and the increasing number of products it’s stocking to keep up with customer demand.
Depot manager Amanda Hingley explains: “We really are moving a lot of kit, our Combi Cabin welfare units in particular are very popular. As soon as they come back from a project they are being cleaned, serviced and sent out again, sometimes within the same day.
“We’re currently refurbishing a 19,891 sq ft building adjacent to the depot to expand into. There will be workshops, fitting bays and a large office – we’ve got new staff joining so we’re going to need lots of extra space.”
The Midlands depot currently has a team of 16 but is adding key new staff all the time. In the last few months, in addition to Amanda, there have been two other new appointments. Sophie Rolfe joined the depot in August and Shamala Raza in July. Both ladies have excellent construction product hire experience having worked for crane, access platform and modular building companies before joining Garic.
Sophie added: “There is a great atmosphere at the depot, we all feel very positive about the progress we are making. We’re seeing existing customers take more products from us and we’re getting more new customer enquiries. The variety of projects we are being asked to supply equipment for is great too. Since I’ve been here we’ve supplied welfare and site set up kit for demolition, ground works, civil engineering, rail and road projects, and just last week a supermarket fit out company hired a very large COSHH store from us which is quite unusual.”
And the final word goes to Shamala: “Momentum is really gathering, we’re all very focussed on making sure the depot is big a success. We all get a buzz from making sure our products are top quality and the service we give to our clients is the best it can be.”
