Garic is looking for a professional, enthusiastic and flexible Van Driver with towing experience to join the team at our Bury depot in this fast paced & varied role. Start times are between 6am and 8am and you will be working around 8/12-hour days.  Overtime paid at time and a half, after 40 hours.

As a professional Van Driver, you will be responsible for the delivery and collection of company assets throughout the UK.

Your role will include various duties, including being fully responsible for safe operation and road worthiness of the vehicle you are allocated to drive and the safety and security of the load you are transporting.

You will be responsible for efficient and effective route planning, ensuring your workload is completed in line within current WTD legislation and to also ensure customer expectations and requirements are met.

The successful Van Driver will need to have good customer service and communication skills as you will be directly dealing with customers daily.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Safety performance and culture:
    • Complete walk round and safety checks daily
    • Identify and report any vehicle defect immediately.
    • Adhere to and follow safe systems of work and RAMS.
    • Load and secure equipment accordingly
    • Fully comply with EU directive on drivers’ hours and tachographs
    • Fully comply with the highway code
  • Quality:
    • Ensure assets are delivered to a high standard.
    • Ensure vehicle & cab is kept clean.
  • Delivery:
    • Complete workloads through BCA
    • Ensure delivery/collections are completed on time and in full.
    • Plan routes effectively
  • Cost:
    • Ensure any damage is captured using BCA.
    • Apply safe and fuel-efficient driving techniques.
    • Reduce engine idling.
  • People:.
    • Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
    • Actively promote Garic product and services to customers
    • Keep your knowledge and skills up to date and keep abreast of new legislation.

The role is for a 7.5t service driver, to work as part of a dedicated team travelling throughout the UK undertaking the waste, water & fuel servicing of welfare cabins, toilets, and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Carry out water and fuel replenishment and to remove effluent waste from welfare cabins sited on customer’s premises.
  • To comply with company Health & Safety policy and Tachograph legislation
  • To load and secure all equipment onto your vehicles accordingly.
  • To transport and install equipment safely and competently.
  • To ensure delivery and collection paperwork is completed correctly.
  • Promote Garic positively delivering an excellent standard of customer service.
What do you need to become a successful HGV Driver?

The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated team to carry out high quality installations and repairs in a safe and time efficient manner. Basic construction knowledge is essential and must be able to adapt to a daily workload. With the ability to learn new skills on the job, the successful candidate will be able to provide cover across the department as and where necessary to ensure the department meets targets. The daily workload will be varied and consist of manufacturing site welfare cabins, containers and towable units. The successful candidate will have knowledge of 1st and 2nd fix Joinery, plumbing and electrics.

Working alongside other production departments the role of Multi skilled fitter will be key in the progression of the department to meet operational growth in demand.

The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated team to carry out high quality welding operations in a safe and time efficient manner. Fabrication knowledge is essential and must be able to read technical drawings. With the ability to MIG weld mild steel at a variant of thicknesses, daily workload will be varied and consist of manufacturing containers, wash down bays, wheel wash systems, bowsers and more. Testing and commissioning of fabrications old and new is a requirement of this role.
