Garic join BLG colleagues to raise over £6,700 for charity through GSB trek

Flying the flag for Bibby Line Group (BLG)’s award-winning Giving Something Back (GSB) Programme, 20 intrepid hikers set off in September to conquer the Brecon Beacons, taking part in the gruelling Trekfest event, raising over £6,700 for charity.

The team, made up of colleagues from Bibby Financial Services, Bibby Marine, Garic, BLG Head Office and a Bibby family member camped together, before setting off early on Saturday the 18th September to tackle the tough 25km route, which included an ascent of over 3,000ft.

Colleagues raised money for their individual charities, with BLG sponsoring their places at the event.

We invited colleagues to share their experiences of the trek, in just three words…

Ian White, Group Communications Manager and GSB Lead said:

“It was a real challenge – much tougher than we thought it would be. However, it was completely worth it; raising so much money for our local communities is an amazing achievement and I’m so proud of the team for how everyone worked together to complete the trek and support each other throughout.

“Once again colleagues from across our group have demonstrated their passion and commitment to their local communities and charities – well done everyone!”

Jonathan Lewis, BLG Group Managing Director said:

“This is the first central GSB event we’ve run since Covid-19 and I’m immensely proud of what our team of Bibby Line Group people have achieved.

“Colleagues from all our businesses and head office came together to support each other and raise a fantastic amount of money for worthwhile causes.  We’ll be doing more of these fundraising events to support communities and give our colleagues the opportunity to build relationships across the group in the future.

“My sincere thanks go to everyone who took part, everyone who sponsored them, and the GSB team for making it happen.”

The GSB Programme is just one element of how BLG supports local communities, and is being relaunched as part of the Group’s new ‘Project Compass’ initiative – which focuses our sustainability efforts on how we look after the environment, provide great service to customers, offer a great experience for our people and help to improve the communities in which we operate.

The GSB Programme is open to all colleagues in Bibby Financial Services, Bibby Marine, Garic and BLG Head Office and provides £ for £ matchfunding for colleague fundraising activities, as well as organising central event challenges and encouraging volunteering.
