Pioneering role in promoting considerate supply chain

Garic, one of the UK’s most innovative and forward-thinking suppliers of welfare, accommodation and plant equipment to the construction industry, has been accepted as a member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).

The CCS is a national initiative which aims to enhance the image of the construction industry by improving standards of neighbourliness. Companies wanting to be registered with the scheme are independently assessed against a five-point code of practice which monitors business performance across a broad spectrum of factors including safety, environmental standards, employee welfare and local community respect.

Since it was launched in 1994 the scheme has been enthusiastically embraced by hundreds of high performing construction contractors. Garic’s membership, however, is due to set a new trend, as the company is one of the first suppliers to be accepted.

Commenting on the news, Garic MD Colin Hotchkiss said: “The scheme has been very successful in raising client-centric performance standards amongst contractors and we felt that it was time for suppliers like us to stand up and be counted too. Our product range has been carefully designed to support the well-being, safety and security of construction workers, equipment, and OUR environment, therefore we are particularly proud that this has been recognised and that our application to join the CCS has been accepted.

“Garic’s aim is to forge close working relationships with all of our contractor clients so that we can play an integral role in assisting them with running their sites as professionally as possible. This is therefore an important step towards that. We hope other suppliers will follow our lead so that together we can strengthen the whole supply chain.”
