We’re proud to deliver welfare across the whole of the UK, but today it’s all about Yorkshire (it’s Yorkshire Day tomorrow after all!) So, what better way to celebrate than with a Q&A with our very own Yorkshireman, Scott Phillips.
We had a chat with Scott and asked him a few questions, some about life at Garic but of course some about his beloved Yorkshire. Scott’s one of our Regional Account Managers and covers from Newcastle down to Chesterfield.
LIFE AT GARIC:
How long have you worked for Garic?
I’ve worked for Garic coming up to six months – a month of that was spent doing my induction, another month out doing my role & the rest of the time working from home due to the current pandemic.
What does your job involve?
Anything from managing a portfolio of existing customers, growing that portfolio with new business, invoice queries, site visits, site surveys – the list is endless. But all are enjoyable – for the most part!
What do you like most about your job?
The variety – every single day is different! Every customer, every project, every enquiry.
What makes Garic a good company to work for?
This one might’ve been a difficult one to give a specific answer if we weren’t going through a pandemic. But Garic, unlike a lot of businesses, have shown you’re not just a number. They have put a big emphasis on your wellbeing & making sure you’re taken care of – not only whilst working but in your personal life too.

LIFE IN YORKSHIRE:
When you’re not busy working, what do you enjoy doing?
Like most Yorkshiremen, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, enjoying a beer or two, watching Leeds United & playing golf terribly!
What’s your favourite thing about living in Yorkshire?
My favourite thing about living in Yorkshire is just how proud the people of Yorkshire are about their county – I think you’ll struggle to find a prouder bunch!
How do you usually spend Yorkshire Day?
Laughing, drunk & happy.
Where’s your favourite place to go in Yorkshire?
I would personally say anywhere in the Yorkshire Dales getting out for a walk and getting some fresh air, but our lass would say Aysgarth Falls because that’s where I proposed.
What’s the best food to come out of Yorkshire?
A roast beef dinner (cooked rare!) blathered in gravy & horseradish sauce… or a Meat Feast pizza from Moji’s in Wetherby, not very Yorkshire’like but they’re the best pizzas about.
